| My photo of the Cyclones' "MCU Park," with the Steeplechase Parachute Jump towering behind it. |
I grew up in the area around John Dewey High School, so I thought I would take my trusty old camera and snap pictures of places that have meaning for me. They inspire me to reminisce about the Brooklyn of many decades ago.
For example, on the right you can see I snapped a photo of MCU Park (what was once Key Span Park), home of the Brooklyn Cyclones' baseball team.
But do you notice what is towering over it? The defunct Parachute Jump at old Steeplechase park. Now that is a Coney Island landmark.

I blog about that and other attractions - just click on the tab marked "Coney Island" to find out more! Or click on the tab marked "My Roots" to find out more about the Bensonhurst I grew up in, and what it is today.
I still teach in Brooklyn, so I very attached to the community to this day. Pictured on the left are some of my high school Journalism students, and they are interviewing members of the school soccer team.
Take a look at the rest of my blog as I take you on a journey through the Brooklyn I once knew.
I hope you enjoy the excursion!
